Extra Credit: Research Journey February 12, 2012 -Missy Walkingshaw

There are so many things in life that drag out and seem to be never ending. Well, doing a research project is one of those things. My research journey reminded me of when I'm in the car for an extremely long time heading to another state. You start out kind of excited just because you really want to get to your destination. But then as your working your way there, so many things occur. You find yourself super bored and you have no clue what to do. While doing research, the word "bored" comes to mind a ton! You begin to get "car sick" and you just want to stop and be done! Even though you get those little breaks, you still have to keep getting back on track. Soon enough, you're more than half way through and the excitement comes back. You realize that the journey was completely worth it and you have more experience for the next time. Research is hard, but it gets you to go places in life that you'd never go with out it.

Class Poem Per. 4 2012

Emblems of strength

Life is big book with blank pages

To invent new things and to live every day knowing you are capable of anything

Me myself and I

But what can we do when the world is in pain

We can do nothing but hope it will soon cease to rain

The moon slowly glides across the sky

Everyone pretends not to see them when you know they really do

Yet the evil and the words hold us back

If you look at the sunset and smile then you still have hope

I glance above the sun for I know that I have lost my forever constant companion

We dream so we can explore

You are you and nobody can change that

Life goes on grab a hold of yourself and continue

Lost and never to be found

In life live life to the fullest

We learn we act

Answers aren’t always the equation to the questions you ask

Trembling through the horrific things that stand beside me

I demand center stage and demand recognition

“Be yourself because everyone else is already taken”

Control is power

Change yourself because you want to change not because someone makes you

With hope and love we can make life last

Paving a way to darkness, destroying what truly matters most

Except everyone no matter how they take on the world

Life is a gift

L is for loving F is for feeling

We require the answer we will never know

So stop wishing your life away

Wish that there were more minutes left to share the little surprises

Class Poem Per. 2 2012

With sea shells laying beneath my feet

As the curtains make way for the stage

The truth is carved into your bleeding heart

Never give up because you’re telling yourself it’s over

Music is everywhere

I think of the layers and what might be in them

We only have one life to live

When there is a silver lining in the clouds

One by one they drift up towards the darkness

The pen glides across my blank paper

So are the people you call friends really your friends?

I wish I got to know you better but our time together was short

Swimming through an ocean of tomato soup

These three make a triple team that can’t be stopped

You are you and you are beautiful in every way

Don’t wait for the sun to rise you rise before the sun

Your lover still loves you

Her wispy hair danced across her face as she landed the beautiful leap

I felt the music flowing into my soul

You might hear the cries of people struggling nearby

But nobody seems to be struggling for you

Shooting some b-ball in the park

Research Experience Extra Credit

To me research is quite horrid. Helpful, but dreadful, terribly boring and sometimes a big pain. It's a good thing to know how to do though, like school! We all have to do it even though it's unexciting the majority of the time, frustrating, and seems pointless sometimes. But it can help us with almost anything. If we have a question we could always spring forward and ask as we wish to seek out the answer. To most people research is either a love of hate relationship. To me on the other hand, it's okay. There are good sides to it and bad, but everything has that.
Research can be beneficial yet wearisome. Research is alright and sometimes I don't mind it. It's helped me learn new things and will definitely help me out in a great deal towards the future. It's an experience and a lesson we all need to be taught. Whether you love, like, or hate it, we all have to admit it's quite handy.

Devote yourself to an idea. Go make it happen. Struggle on it. Overcome your fears. Smile :D. Don't you forget:this is your dream.

A change by Cinderella

My gun shook, as if it was afraid of my pocket. My eye's darted this way and that. Afraid of any movement. Harper, went on without a notice. I thought I was ready for anything, turns out I wasn't even close. A shot rang out. Me? I wasnt aware. Pain, struck me hard in the back. Was the bullet in my back? No, someone else had taken the fall. That was Harper. Knocking me to the ground, he screamed in agony. I slid over to look at a man in black. Terrorist. Mom. These words slip into my mind, but I quickly push them out. I was in a crisis, and I was not good at those. The man paced slowly forward. I could tell that he was afraid, and new to this "honor." I crawl to my dying friend. My only friend. He crys while death whispers in his ear. " This is all my fault." I say trying to make death go away. " Then fix it" was his only reply. My shaky knees stood, ready to fall to the ground. There wasnt much I could do. Helicopters started to swirl around me. Ready to clean up this mess that was about to take place. My gun dropped from my pocket onto its best friend, the ground. Without any hope left I started to walk forward to give my self up when, I heard a shot from behind me. " GET DOWN!!!" it said. I quickly obeyed its' command. Lying next to Harper I turned up to see.... a woman. She was a couple years older than me and looked vaguely familiar. She flipped over me and Harper as if we were totoally invisible. In awe I watched her dive into a stop, and slide for her gun. It was already at her landing point. She took it and used it like an old friend. Flippping and shooting, it never ended. Helicopters were blowing up, and the ka-booms were so loud that I buried my ears into Harpers wound to end the ringing. Then silence. Frightened, I looked up to see her face. Beautiful and with the hint of crazy in her eyes. She glided forward like she hadn't just killed around 25 people. I rose up to meet her face. For a second we just looked at each other before she said " Where, is dad?" How could she say something like that? I haven't seen here for almost 5 years!! " He was dead when I came home last night, no evidence was found about who killed him." A tear was pushing my eye to come out, but I wouldn't let it. " Okay , let's help your friend." She kneeled down onto the blood stained gravel, turning Harper over. " Its okay" she soothed him " Everythings going to be alright." "Scarlett?" He asked looking up into the orange colored sky trying to find me. " No," said the girl " I'm Peyton, Scarlett's missing and wanted sister. Now I have to inform you kid's about some new rule change's in the game. We have declared war on the terrorist's in Aphganistan, and we are going to have the time of our life trying to get back our freedom and justice that they have taken." Do you like it??? Please comment!!!!!! I want to know!!! I need some feedback!!!!
