Hybrid Letter by: Phillip

Dear Nathan Price(The Poisonwood Bible),

You need be more of a father than what you are being right now. Your children fear you and your wife refers to you as "sir". I also want to tell you that just because you are white doesn't mean you are more superior to those who aren't. Let your children breathe a little if you keep constricting them they will go crazy. Their childhood is important, so let them expand and think more freely. I may not have wife, but I knew how to treat her so you should consider treating your wife with more respect instead of treating her like a maid. Another thing that I want to remind you to do is respect other races cultures if they do not want to follow you then leave them alone.

Sincerely,
Atticus Finch(To Kill A Mockingbird)

Is it a story worth telling?

"Tell me something I don't know that's worth knowing. Tell me something that you know will benefit me greatly." it said. What was I supposed to say? What was I supposed to do? It just sat there staring at me in the face. My eyes held it's gaze and I couldn't look away... I thought....Then I said, "I don't know everything that you know, but I do know that life is there to make us learn, to make us fight, to give us a purpose in our own special light." It looked at me for a while more. Then, it just vanished and where it had stood lay a tiny golden heart about the size of a penny. It glowed with a miraculous light. I walked over a picked it up, the scenery changed around me...

Three Word Challenge: light, dauchshund, and sluggard

When the light of day crept slowly into the doorway of the doghouse, the spoiled dauchshund, Bennett came unwillingly outside. Bennett was always a sluggard in the morning. He opened his droopy eyes and looked around for his breakfast that was supposed to be laid out for him, like it was everyday. But it wasn't there. Everything was gone, the short manicured grass, the well trimmed cherry tree in the corner of the yard, his owner's imaculate big house. All he could see was miles and miles of flat barren land. He had no idea what to do, especially without his owners there. What had happened during the night?................ #425

Three Word Challenge Extra Credit

I thumped on the trunk door. Pounding it as hard as my heart began to beat. I was too determined, I had to get out. The trunk was small, the car must have been a Fiat or something of that sort, I thought. I was tired, but I wouldn't let one moment go past that I was being sluggard. Suddenly the light revealed itself as the trunk door opened. I sat, tied and gagged. Helpless. There were two men in ski masks and black hoodies. How typical, I thought. The only odd thing that stood out was that one of them held my neighbor's beloved and much worshipped pet, their Dachshund.

Extra Credit: Research Journey February 12, 2012 -Missy Walkingshaw

There are so many things in life that drag out and seem to be never ending. Well, doing a research project is one of those things. My research journey reminded me of when I'm in the car for an extremely long time heading to another state. You start out kind of excited just because you really want to get to your destination. But then as your working your way there, so many things occur. You find yourself super bored and you have no clue what to do. While doing research, the word "bored" comes to mind a ton! You begin to get "car sick" and you just want to stop and be done! Even though you get those little breaks, you still have to keep getting back on track. Soon enough, you're more than half way through and the excitement comes back. You realize that the journey was completely worth it and you have more experience for the next time. Research is hard, but it gets you to go places in life that you'd never go with out it.

Class Poem Per. 4 2012

Emblems of strength

Life is big book with blank pages

To invent new things and to live every day knowing you are capable of anything

Me myself and I

But what can we do when the world is in pain

We can do nothing but hope it will soon cease to rain

The moon slowly glides across the sky

Everyone pretends not to see them when you know they really do

Yet the evil and the words hold us back

If you look at the sunset and smile then you still have hope

I glance above the sun for I know that I have lost my forever constant companion

We dream so we can explore

You are you and nobody can change that

Life goes on grab a hold of yourself and continue

Lost and never to be found

In life live life to the fullest

We learn we act

Answers aren’t always the equation to the questions you ask

Trembling through the horrific things that stand beside me

I demand center stage and demand recognition

“Be yourself because everyone else is already taken”

Control is power

Change yourself because you want to change not because someone makes you

With hope and love we can make life last

Paving a way to darkness, destroying what truly matters most

Except everyone no matter how they take on the world

Life is a gift

L is for loving F is for feeling

We require the answer we will never know

So stop wishing your life away

Wish that there were more minutes left to share the little surprises

Class Poem Per. 2 2012

With sea shells laying beneath my feet

As the curtains make way for the stage

The truth is carved into your bleeding heart

Never give up because you’re telling yourself it’s over

Music is everywhere

I think of the layers and what might be in them

We only have one life to live

When there is a silver lining in the clouds

One by one they drift up towards the darkness

The pen glides across my blank paper

So are the people you call friends really your friends?

I wish I got to know you better but our time together was short

Swimming through an ocean of tomato soup

These three make a triple team that can’t be stopped

You are you and you are beautiful in every way

Don’t wait for the sun to rise you rise before the sun

Your lover still loves you

Her wispy hair danced across her face as she landed the beautiful leap

I felt the music flowing into my soul

You might hear the cries of people struggling nearby

But nobody seems to be struggling for you

Shooting some b-ball in the park

Research Experience Extra Credit

To me research is quite horrid. Helpful, but dreadful, terribly boring and sometimes a big pain. It's a good thing to know how to do though, like school! We all have to do it even though it's unexciting the majority of the time, frustrating, and seems pointless sometimes. But it can help us with almost anything. If we have a question we could always spring forward and ask as we wish to seek out the answer. To most people research is either a love of hate relationship. To me on the other hand, it's okay. There are good sides to it and bad, but everything has that.
Research can be beneficial yet wearisome. Research is alright and sometimes I don't mind it. It's helped me learn new things and will definitely help me out in a great deal towards the future. It's an experience and a lesson we all need to be taught. Whether you love, like, or hate it, we all have to admit it's quite handy.
