Poetry day/ Slave Poem Rebekah Heaton

In honor of Emmline

Free like a bird
Dark like a candles room no hope lots of fears
What a curse to be that color
curls swirl around me like an octopus in the sea
slender hands cling onto the bar that will change my life

Golden Charcoal birds
free to roam the skies
hope for all of us
that maybe one day we will be
free like a bird

Hard mean jeering face
stares hungrily at me
oh how I hate my curls
they are a burden to me
crow you are lucky you fly away free

Down goes the gavel
"sold to the man in the red shirt"
the dirty hard man
who stares so much at me
dread despair fear so much fear
swirl around me
help god, if there is one

Golden Charcoal birds
free to roam the skies
hope for all of us
that maybe one day we will be
free like a bird

Slave poem by: Kilea Blake

The old little cattle had a dream, i want to be free
I want to roam from house to house, all day anytime
I want to be free. The old little cattle yelled all day
let me let me free!

I the favorite letter by: Kilea Blake

I the most favorite letter of all.
We all want to talk about ourselves
I, I,I. It's so unique to be a roman numeral,
without I there would be no TEAM. I is
just the hidden and forgotten letter in A

Dachelle Church Letter D

D
D is doll, m y nickname and soul
D is a Delightful letter it's a simle by Picasso put on sideways.

Dachelle Church

I stand in the field with my thoughts all abroad, and my mamas acallin' from the cabin door knob. I run with all my might for I've been watching the stars by the old 'sippi river and enjoying our newly found freedom. My sisters been sold were getting her back, then we are leaving to Canada to be with father.

Alex Acuna's Slave Poem

Where are my kids?
Where is my husband?
Where is my freedom?
Where is my childhood?
What do I have left in this cruel world?
Why am I less than you?
Can't dwell on questions I will never get answered.

Patricia Galvan Slave Poem

I fulfill an empty redundant life
were freedom is mocking over hills
life is a challenge but I strive
I gain endurance and strength that builds

crossing plains just to be free
is but only a goal one can not see
no one understands how feelings show
for tormentors hurt us just to be sold

Slave Poem:
Working everyday
Never get the pay
Celebrate at night
Don't put up a fight
Tried to get away
Only got to stay

I am a slave
Traded and sold by white men
Forced to work in fields for little or nothing
I am a slave
I'm not perfect because of my color
I'm inferior to the white men above me
I am a slave
Thought of as property
And not as a human being
I am a creature, an it, a slave
But despite what they say I am more than that
Greater than a creature, an it, or a slave
I am a PERSON

Natalia Bell

Does he even see me?
Does he recognize me?
Master only calls me:
Wench,
Slave,
Girl.
But,
If he could recognize me,
Maybe even call me by my name,
Would he know how much more effective I would be?
Because that's all I ask for.

I am a slave
I cry, I sing, I live my life
I do the best to survive
It's my duty and a curse
It's the way us people work
I may be small but I am strong
I stand for all slaves who don't belong!

Slave Life
Wake up in the early hours to the morning bell
Straight to the fields to start the day
Work tell lunch the only good time a day
Back to the fields for the rest of the day
Cuts in my back from the falls throughout the day
The sun goes down to my bed I go just over start over the next day

U is the best letter because:
U is a swing where you can let your hair down and dream on, it's the turn that can be tricky on a road so use it carefully, it's the shape you're in when falling, just waiting to hit the trampoline. It has a best friend that it's inseparable from, you never see 'q' without 'u'. It's the statement that anyone can fill a thousand feelings into. U is the ultimate letter because it can't function unless you're willing to not just be a line, and bend with it.

John Kendall

The best letter, J.

The best letter of the alphabet, is J.
It is a hook to hang your coats on, a comfy rounded chair, just an all around, well rounded letter.
Without J there would be no jam, jelly, jelly beans, juice, jamborees, or most importantly, there would be no John!
J is the best letter in the alphabet

The Worst Letter: Q. A simple circle trying to be fancy, unique one could say. Nearly Nothing without it's fellow companion, U. Always followed by the Q but U is the one who makes it work. A soccer ball with a thorn stuck inside. Someone that only uses one finger to bowl. A man smoking  his cigar. Millions of things could be said about them, realize that many are dissing the letter.

Letter O Rebekah Heaton

O Most of us don't think about that letter. But it is the most wonderful. A hot, cheesy pizza. The chocolate melty chip cookies in the cafeteria. It is omega. The end. O is the shape of whistles, screams and jaw hangings. O is a vowel, it is symmetrical. it can be simple but has the most complex equations. Part of the forever sign. A wedding ring. It can not only be the end, it can be the beginning. The shape of a baby's electric blue eyes.

My favorite letter is A! A is always at the top. It's like the Eiffel Tower so high up there in the world. It's better then everyone and everything! It's sassy, smart and not at all shabby. The little tail on the side of the nicely shaped face is like a ponytail on a little girl. She gets what she wants, when she wants it. A couldn't be any better of a letter!
